Assuming that you are using the Mid Wales Bunkhouse, Tipi and Camping as your base, this walk begins by catching the local bus
from Pant-y-Dwr to Llanidloes. At the time of writing this departs
at about 0930 but the timetable seems to change frequently so you are advised to check beforehand.
To walk to the bus stop from the Mid Wales Bunkhouse takes about 40 minutes, so, to allow plenty of time,
we would advocate a start soon after 0830. This will get you to Llanidloes in time to start the walk at around 1000.
However, you may choose to spend an hour or so exploring the town first.
The walk itself is a mix of quiet country lanes which only see a few local vehicles a day, tracks and bridleways crossing open fields.
It is generally fairly easy walking and well signposted. For this reason we do not offer a detailed route description here.
The scenery is stunning throughout, rolling farmland and fields with a backdrop of higher moorland. One section passes below
the Llandinam wind farm, almost an attraction from this distance. All in all this is a rewarding and pleasant days walk and could be ridden on horseback too.
